Dear Colleagues:

You may also like to see the "IITK _ GSDMA Guidelines for Seismic
Design of Liquid Storage Tanks".
This is available on a nominal price from NICEE
(http://www.nicee.org/payment.php),
and can also be downloaded free of charge from
http://www.iitk.ac.in/nicee/IITK-GSDMA/EQ08.pdf

To know more about NICEE, do vist the NICEE web site and become the member. U shall be knowing that the NICEE is doing a very wonderful helpful work for the engineers and Prof. S K jain and his collegues are doing a lot of work to make the engineers to know more and more about the earthquake practices. The problem which I feel is that we need more interaction and interest to know the things. we rely on the defaults and so keep on our views contained within us.
With Regards
Shekher

Dear Sir,

In Is-456 there is no mention of direct tension in concrete. So we need to follow working stree method for design of tank wall. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Dear SEFIAN,

Pls do not forget that IS1893 relevant part for liquid storage tanks
for assessing the seismic loadings.

Also IS 3370 is presently undergoing a change and the draft copy is in
circulation for comments. It is essentally for using the Limit state design
procedures, very much similar to BS codes.
