What Alpa has said in her two postings is very much valid.

How SEFI came into being is very much known and the website is full of information useful to
the community. There has been plenty of inputs from Pankaj Gupta and Alpa Sheth in the site
becoming what it is within a year. Initially we thought there were five like minded people who
wanted soming like SEFI coming into existence and 26 Jan 2003 saw the site go on stream with
whatever shortcoming there were. Things usually happen when deadlines with symbolic dates are
decided upon. Very quickly the site became very vibrant e-community. We have now more than five
dozen active participants, about 10% of the members. Very heartening indeed.

Those who value the site, should have avenue to support it and as a policy it would be good
idea to receive funds from members with a lower limit (to minimise handling expenses) and an
upper limit (per annum) and keep SEFI free of pulls and pushes of lobbies which tend to get
established in any organisation.

As for services, one could give thoughts to it by and by based on finances of SEFI and
Volunteers willing to devote time. SEFI should not exist for profit for itself or individuals
but work for common benefit of the Civil Engineering Profession and Professionals and community
at large.
