Dear Colleagues:

Greetings on the Republic Day. Today also happens to be seventh anniversary of the launching of SEFI, and ninth anniversary of the terrible earthquake in Gujarat.

SEFI continues to grow at an exponential rate: we had 1,798 members two years back, 3,444 members a year back, and 6,512 members now. This is a result of two things: a) tremendous enthusiasm of the members of SEFI to discuss issues of concern to them, and b) great work by the colleagues at Phoenix Webtech Pvt Ltd (Sanjeev Kumar and his team) by adding a lot of innovative features to the site (and most of it at no remuneration).
 
Our profession seems to be going through a revival in view of surge in infrastructure projects, and SEFI can take enormous pride in being part of this revival. SEFI has a huge role to play in the years ahead: to help build capacity of our young engineers and to debate the issues that affect the general practice. 

This is also the time to renew the appeal to all SEFI members to consider making a financial contribution to your Forum. As you are aware, SEFI receives no sponsorships from Government sources and is operated entirely through the contributions of its members. As the size of our community grows, so does the expenditure on maintaining the services. You may visit http://www.sefindia.org/?q=node/12 to see the individuals and firms that have contributed this year. You will notice that even though our membership has almost doubled this year, the number of financial contributors is far lower than that of the last year! For those new on the Forum, members are encouraged to contribute a sum in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 20,000 per year.

I also take this opportunity to thank our Subscribing Members for their financial support and hope that many more will add their name to this list.
