Dear friends
I have seen quite a lot of discussion on this. The question comes to my mind that why should we model secondary beam in STAAD at all. Is not the secondary beam part of rigid diaphragm only ?

Best Wishes,

Sometimes the framing is such that it becomes difficult to identify the secondary beams from Primary Beams...and thus we do need to model them....and such beams are given Mz release command to avoid the supporting beams from getting torsion. However it is important to keep in mind detailing at the supports should conform to a released-moment condition....and that the secondary beam's main r'f should be detailed using increased cover.
