Respected Sir/Madam,
Myself Prakash A. Motwani student of M.E
(struc. Engg.) at M.S. University, Baroda. At present i
am doing disertation on "Dynmic Analysis Of Table Top
Foundation" for centrifugal type machine foundations
at L&T-CHIYODA,Baroda.For that i am using the combined
method proposed by A. major And also analysing through
the GT STRUDL 27 software (finite analysis package)
for dynamic analysis.
Sir /Madam, i want to know weather it is
possible to take the damping effect of soil or
material damping in the design of foundation? it is
very important to known this because uptil now to be
on safer side it is not considered in design, only
material stiffness of foundation & piles are
considered. The case study which i had taken is of
centrifugal machine foundation executed at HPCL,Vizag.
The details of this foundation are listed below:-

1)The size of open foundation is-
top slab=11.2 * 4.0 *1.0 m
columns = 1.0 *1.0* 4.1 (clear) *6 nos
base raft = 11.2 * 5.0 * 2.0 m
piles are used beneath the foundation of 0.45 m dia.
of 16 nos.since the loose soil is available. All static
loadings & short circuit force is supplied by the
vendor.M20 conc. & Fe415 steel is to be used.

Kindly guide me or give some informatiion to whom
i can contact or any references. It will definately
helpful to me the get some idea & new information so
that i can give in my disertation.
Waiting for reply.
your's sincerely,
Prakash A. Motwani
