Hello SEFIANS,

I presume that KACHCHH EQ DATED 26.01.2001 was result of POKHRAN BLAST. I believe that said blast activated ALLAHBANDH fault, resulting in devastating earthquake. Is there any Geo-technical person who can guide me to establish this co-relation????

Dear Sefians,
I am designing a (GF+4)residential unit in zone V, having two identical annexes 5m apart. Is it advisable to tie both the annexes only at terrace level through tie beams ? What would be the behaviour of the annexes (if tied at terrace level) in case of earthquake? Which is the ideal place for tie? Kindly give your responses with justification.
Thanks and regards from

Dear Sirs,
Thanks for responses for tie beam to connect two annexes. I have seen similar structure collapsed in EQ dtd 26.01.01. One annexe totally collapsed, while other standing upright !!! My concern was that can an annexe prevent collapsing the other if tied at different levels? or taking it other way, both the annexes would have collapsed if tied at different level.
Thanks and regards from
