Dear SEFIANs,

Many times we are required to bend the ROLLED sections with different
radius. This process is usually carried out in a jig / bending machine or by
beam action. As the bent shape is retained by the Rolled section (permanent
set) its a PLASTIC deformation problem.

Do anybody has guidelines about -
1) allowable stresses (without WEB/FLANGE buckling), which are naturally
greater than 'Fy'
2) minimum allowable radius for bending
3) Care during bending operation

etc.

As the beam crosses elastic limit, all the equations become useless.
Elasticity goes on reducing, deflection/rotation keeps on increasing etc.

In practice expert-fabricators do it easily. How to cross check / prove this
mathematically.

Check literature on residual stresses in AISC Manual of steel construction & Specifications
