SUBJECT: Vibration in Slabs
Dear Ravi Joshi,
This your querry you raised on 18th October 2004
Firstly you need to know from the blower manufacturer the frequency characteristics of the blower.(RPM)
Next you need to find out the natural frequency of the slab (free vibration of the slab) . The vibrations are not likely to shake the entire RCC frame. You can compare the two frequencies & if they are apart by twice or more it is okay.
You can put isolation pads & springs below the machine & mount it on the slab .
You can refer the excellent book on Vibrations of Machines/Machine foundations by Major (IVth volume -Vibration of Buildings & Bridges) .
The Exact name of the book is "Dynamics in Civil Engineering-Analysis & Design ,Volume IV -Vibrations in Buildings & Industrial Structures. Dynamics in Hydraulic Structures & Bridges"
