Dear SEFIANS,

I fully endorse the view of Mr. Amit Dutt. So will others. But this again is due to we structural engineers being totally subserviant to our pay-masters (clients/architects)! Speed has become the bye-word in all fields. It is not only in traffic that the slogan "speed thrills but kills" is valid.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this the case in other countris also?

All of us should put our heads together to devise means to propagate the advantages of the engineer being allowed to take a little more time to study the problems. This may help in his coming up with better and probably innovative solutions to complex problems.
