Lots of deliberations have been made over last few days regarding, use of Fly Ash, Maximum acceptable percentage of Fly Ash & high volume Fly Ash concrete. All these discussions are being done (probably) without referring to related chemistry of Cement i.e. basic composition percentage of C2S & C3S in cement & amount of CA(OH2) getting free after Hydration Reaction. In order to make use of flyash as SCM,the component of Fly Ash becomes chemically active depending on percentage of free CA(OH2) available. The chemical composition of cement of a given brand and grade is generally consistent over period of time. Sill the basic point of discussion on Fly Ash should start from the composition of cement. All the participants of E-conference may not be aware of the latest research (At least I am not aware) in this area. Can any expert in ‘Chemistry of Cement’ comment on this?
I am sure that all the experts sharing their views regarding ‘ maximum permissible percentage of Fly Ash to be used’ are making the statements after due reference to the cement chemistry & composition.
A new thought---
Can Industry manufacture SPECIALCEMENT having appropriate combination of constituents to allow use of maximum percentage of Fly Ash. I request experts to guide.
