Dear  Er.   Ram,

Go  to  STAAD/PRO  V8i  "Technical Reference Manual"   Section 2.4  Design Parameters.  See table 2.1 . See these parameters with example on page 106 Notes.

Example :     PARAMETERS
                     DFF  300.0  ALL
                     DJ1  1    ALL
                     DJ2  4   ALL

Page 106 example:  dff  = L/Delta.

There in the table 2.1 Parameters  DFF, DJ1 and DJ2 are explained.  Even if you are using LIMIT  STATE  DESIGN  OF  ANY  STEEL CODE  these parameters  will be  same.

Page 106 Notes need to be read, to use  deflection check  on Steel Beams properly.

Regards.

Dear  Er.   Ram,

You can validate this yourself.  Create two STAAD/PRO models:
1) A Simply Supported Beam 9.0 m span with UDL.  The  deflection of this beam is known.  Delta = 5/384  wl**4/EI . Check if you getting that. You have to use COMMAND  "  PRINT  SECTION  DISPL ".  This will give you beam deflections at 13 points.
2) Use the same simply supported beam but SPLIT the beam in TWO.  Now you have three nodes and two beams. Same Beam size and Same UDL. Now you will be using
DJ1  and DJ2 to get beam deflections of both beams.  Def. at the middle node will be same . Use command : " PRINT JOINT DISPL " .  and also " PRINT SECTION DISPL " .

This is so simple you can validate results yourself.  However my E-Mail ID is:
