Here are some photos of the recent floods in Himalayas which completely wiped out the town and temple of Kedarnath & also some areas surrounding Joshimath & Badrinath.

KEDARNATH - A MAN MADE UNNATURAL DISASTER

Dear Sefians,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Manmade devastation in Uttarakhand is the result of Mindless, Relentless exploitation of Natural Resources by human greed. Below are the facts:

Power Projects In the pipeline > 70

Commissioned 20

Under Progress 20

Proposed 30

Reservoir/Dam height varies from 20 m [60 ft = 6 floor] to 60 m [180 ft 18 floor].

75% of the river is to be channelled [death of river Ganges!] through closed tunnels.

Total power generation potential ~ 20000 MW

Harnessed power ~ 1500 MW

In-Progress-Proposed power generation ~ 7000 MW

Desilting is the process of removing "SETTLED SILT" from the reservoir floor by physical removal or "FLUSH FLOWDOWN". Physical removal is highly costly and time consuming. Moreover, excavated Earth/Silt and rock boulders were left under "PASSIVE PRESSURE" over hilly slopes. Contractors did not bother to relocate the excavated Silt/Rock material. Mud flow on unprecedented scale in kedarnath is due to "DESILTING OF MANDAKINI RIVER RESERVOIRS", numbering 6 all being under construction stage uphill towards Gandhi Sarovar Reservoir.

Two principal reasons for mass scale destruction:

A. Sudden "Flush Desilting" of Power Project reservoir

B. Land filling on hills by "BROKEN ROCKS AND SILT" non-removal of ROCK-SILT-MALBA by greedy contractors

Instead of controlling "POPULATION EXPLOISION" politicians are busy on how to fulfil ever growing power needs of humans. All norms of environmental safety are "BEING FLOUTED IN THE RUTHLESS INSANE" manner so much so that environmental minister Jairam Ramesh was "REMOVED FROM HIS POSITION" as environmental minister by "GREEDY CORPORATE LOBBY".

HUMAN LIFE IN INDIA HAS VERY LOW VALUE IF ANY

My Heart is with peoples who were forced to face the consequences of relentless exploitation of Natural Resources. In the end, I wish to add that:

"Almighty Mother Nature Do Not Negotiate But Pronounce Her Final Verdicts. Nature Always Take Back Her Treasures And Distribute Them Among All Her Creatures, Equally, Without Monopoly or Bias!"

It is not an act of Mother Nature but a crime by her opponents, a manmade disaster, the result of ever growing – HUMAN GREED!

Blasting for tunnels created a time-bomb to explode any time.Hydrodynamics due to dams triggered it.Wanton deforestation left no chance for equilibrium. The cloudburst opened the eyes of many now.But the greedy ll remain greedy n die greedy. They are just waiting for the public memory to fade. For there is no public outcry in this disaster. Most of the public feel it s the hand of God!

Dear Sir,

The reasons for flood of such magnitude shall be due to glacial lake outburst or cloud burst which the experts are trying to figure it out. The other reasons may be extensive sand mining. The reason for  loss of human life and damage /collapse of structures is the illegal constructions within the high flood level of the river.

Principal Causes For Devastating Floods:

A. Non-removal of silt/malba from under construction projects and its illigal dumping on the open, dangerous slopes of river valley.

B. Indiscriminate blasting of rocks in madness to make CAPTIVE TUNNELS for power generation without proper environmental analysis

C. Criminal Flush Desilting of reservoirs during "Cloud Burst Flush Floods"

D. Excessive road building in hilly terrain blocking rivers's natural path

E. Converting a "DEVINE RELIGIOUS SHRINE" into tourist prostitution market with hotels, resaurants, resorts other HEDONISTIC SADISTIC PLEASURE spots

F. Over exploitation of River Banks by making thousands of houses adjacent to natural river flowing streams

What shall be the scale of devastation if an Earthquake of scale 9.0 on richter scale is to struck HIMALAYAN REGION? World's known Scientists know with absolute certainity that an Earthquake of scale > 8 can struck Himalayan region at any time...is anybody concerned?

What if entire GANGOTRI GLACIER 30 KM X 1 KM is to come down in one blow due to land slide?
