Dear Rahul,

Different grades of concrete can be used at a time, but it will increase the efforts of designer as well as it needs very careful supervision while concreting.

Designer needs to put more efforts in assessing the maximum moments at different locations & their range. They have to mention different grades at different locations on drawing as well. This will increase the man-hours.

While concreting, it needs very careful supervision. If by mistake lower grade of concrete is poured at the locations where you need to put higher grade, it is difficult to remove at beam locations.

This can lead to increase in project cost, instead of decreasing.

In my opinion it is not advisable to use different grades.

Regards,
