Dear Murtuza Kapasi
You can calculate the time period of a building having
infills using STAAD , if you model your building with
diagonal ties in the respective direction of
earthquake. Assign stiffenes to the ties on the basis
of brick walls.

Respected Experts and Dear Sefians,

Help Regarding :

Please suggests a programme, macro or software to
Calculate Natural
Time Period of the RCC Structure with bricks walls /
With out bricks.

Brief :

Recently I came across a RCC building for which I
had two (2) very
different natural time periods. The building is
brick filled in one
direction and not brick filled in another.

(1) Ta 1; Calculated by STAAD Pro, which is vary
High
(2) Ta 2; Calculated by Formula given in IS 1893,
which is very law

I.E  Ta = 0.09h/sqrt(d)  For Building with
Brickpanels in respective
Direction
and Ta = 0.075 x  h ^0.75 For Building without brick
panels.

As IS mathod is imperial and STAAD does not consider
brick wall
stifness non of this is perfectly alright. Now to
avoid any
approximation, I wish to find out accurate Natural
Time period of this
structure by any of analytical meathods. Greater
accuracy is required as
small change in the Time period (Ta) can have
significant impact on
Design and Cost of Building.

If you have any programme, macro or you can suggests
any software to
Calculate Natural Time Period of the RCC Structure
with bricks walls /
With out bricks please suggests.

Regards,

Murtuza Kapasi
