hi,
Iam designing a G+3 floor building.Iam facing a problem in placing of column & footing. Here the borewell position is fixed and it is at a distance of 1feet 3 inches away fom column face.
Now the architect is asking to place the footing such that it covers the borewell from all sides. There is no chance to make footing eccentric.
Architect argument is that once the footing is cast there are no chances of removal of casing pipe and it does not affect the location.

Can u suggest is this possible.

Dear kasturi1976@yahoo.co.in,
Please fill the borewell with compacted sand and go ahead with normal procedure. The Architect, as well as the Structural aspects, are both satisfied.
Regards,
DNN

Hello,
You can place that colum/footing 1.2m or 1.5m away from borewell.i.e distance between colum face & borewell is equal to (1.2 m+1 ' 3") .(if that particular column is at outer face of Building) Take the cantilever bracket design from that colum to obstruct the borewell.
Thanks & Regards

This will be quite risky as Bracket  is one sided
footing and it will create very high base pressure
due to eccentricity and should be avoided.

It is better to fill the hole with sand and top
1.5 to 2.0m with mix 1:5:10 or leaner and
go ahead with concentric footing.

with best wishes

Hi,

Can we place such a way that footing is concentric as usual and it covers the borewell area which is only of 6" diameter surrounded by casing pipe and footing reinforcement only is cut in that 6" dia region only.Any how column is 1feet 3inch away from borehole.

1) Does this gap of 1feet 3 inches between borehole and column centreline is ok?
2) Later stage if motor is inserted does this create any vibration in footing in working condition and affect the building structure?

Request to calrify.
