Dear Dr. Subramanian,

Thank you for your compliments on my thoughts on conceptual design and commercial awareness in my reply to a query by Er. Suprabhat.

Your suggestion of having a 'Like' button, as in Face book, in SEFI's discussion forum is a nice and novel one, as many Sefians view the postings but may not have time to make a detail comment on it, and this 'Like' buton would certainly help them to express their views on it in a short manner.  I hope SEFI Admin will take note of your suggestion and incorporate it in due course.

With best wishes,

IN GOD WE TRUSTPARDON,PROTECT & HELP US LORD, GOD GIVE US THE WISDOM TO UNDERSTAND YOUR WAY OF CREATION WHICH WE CALL SCIENCE,TO BE EXPERT NEEDS PRACTICE & SELF IMPROVEMENT, LETS PRAY FOR ALL THOSE WHO ARE SICK FOR EARLY RECOVERY & IN DISTRESS,HELP SOME ONE IN POVERTY LEVELDear Dr. Subramanian :

Your opinion has triggered great ideas for safe structural design.
In my opinion this is a guide line, and a basic standard code of practice for structural engineers- senior or junior or
administration.

With best wishes and regards.

It involves preparation of sketches for framing plans, preliminary hand calculations with alternative materials, making references to special literature, etc. before starting the final design.  Any structure that is built should be economically viable to suit the functional requirements of the user. Means to find out an alternative economical solutions of framing and materials used are to be worked out for this purpose. For example, the flooring system for a multi-storey building can be a conventional reinforced concrete slab and beam arrangement or a reinforced concrete flat slab or precast-prestressed floor planks or a ribbed floor or a composite floor of concrete and steel beams, etc. Working out these alternatives is time consuming, but experience in this field would shorten this exercise.  The above matters come out of experience only in a design office, and there are no fixed theory or methods to do it.  I hope the above thoughts would help you in these matters.  With best wishes,  N.
