As per IS-456

ANNEX-B
STRUCTURAL DESIGN (WORKING STRESS METHOD)
Clause B-5.2.3 With Shear Reinforcement
When shear reinforcement is provided the nominal
shear stress tc, in beams shall not exceed tc,max given in
Table 24.

SECTION-5
STRUCTURAL DESIGN (LIMIT STATE METHOD)
Clause 40.2.3 With Shear Reinforcement
Under no circumstances, even with shear
reinforcement, shall the nominal shear stress in beams
tv, exceed tc,max given in Table 20.

KINDLY, explain the difference "when shear reinforcement is provided" & "even with shear reinforcement".

Thank You
Regards

My interpretation is

With shear reinforcement in beam means providing the stirrups..
And also a concrete section with longitudinal reinforcement has got some inherent shear capacity.
The code says with both the above, under no circumstances the shear stress in beam shall exceed tc,max.

Thank you Sir
but my question is in WSM, without shear reinforcment tc,max can exceed nominal shear stress?

with shear reinforcement...   nominal shear stress should not exceed tc,max ...either it is by WSM or LSM.
