Very true. In fact I had followed strictly adhering to Indian/international codes & also CICIND guide lines for 285 m high twin flue Chiminey.
Further due to large D/t ratio I had insisted for shell elements instead of stick model to avoid failure due to buckling phenomena. This resulted in higher quantity than the quantity quoted by agency.
Many chimineys failed in matter of 5 years due to various design lacuna. Whatever may be the case as Civil engineers we have to ensure safe design & depending on the risk factor safety shall be appropriately taken.
Our own people insists to avoid work,-slip but I was firm never yielded as it should not at the cost of serious risks.
With this attitude nobody will give me job in Pvt company..

But the problem is that, the employer gets very less amount as fees.
In India, a properly designed and property controlled execution at site is not considered as part of construction. Our people see design as a minimum requirement for getting sanctions.
Similarly Chartered Accountants are being used as to prepare false accounts to the Income Tax department. But they are to be used as financial advisors and pay proper taxes.
Architects are used for beautifying, whereas they are trained to plan in accordance with NBC.
Let this be changed. Let more people use our service. You will get good salary.
Only IT people get good salary because they are being used rightly by foreigners, similar to other professionals in their country.

Dear Abhishek sir,
I also in agreement with you, the industry (specially the consultants) never pays to their staff properly no even on a regular time, it's not just because they not got the fees properly.
The reason behind it..
1. Maximum times the project offered to a consultant by the architects and 90% of time they tries to offer very less amount of fees and tries to get benefit with very high quality work, and for the sake of survivel consultant accepts it.
2. some architects tries to cut the scope of consultancy, like they will keep the site visit in their scope and will visit site as per their convenience, and due to this many times technical points and errors which is being done by the contractor is not being highlighted and "misshapes" occurs.
3. now a days plenty of consultancy is there in industry, {the guys who started came out from the consultants office with proper experience and they are not satisfied (the salary offered) with their employer} all of them are trying to survive themselves in the industry by reducing the stranded market rates (and always architect takes the benefits out of it). they are getting less fee and hence they offered less salary.
4. Also i agreed with the point from abhishek sir that
"Consultancies invest a lot in training you. Then they expect you to stick with them for a long time (I think its a fine thought). Then you leave the company after 1 year of joining to some small increment. So the consultancy which gave you a break in the field feels cheated. Hence a three year bond is there.
Consultancies have a slower money circulation because the cleints dont pay on time. Rarely any consultancy will fire an engineer because they value their training and investment on that particular engineer a lot. "
We "Civil engineers" always full fill the dreams seen by the architects but we are not rewarded as according to our effort"
Apart from above difficulties "civil engineers are always their to create a new world always"
Thanks and regards
