How to verify the effective length of the column after analysis for a steel member?
If a cantilever beam having effective length 2L how can i validate the result of the member that it takes the effective length for analysis?
Thanks in advance. |

Hi Ben solomon,
You can give design parameter in staad KY,KZ as 2 and same result can be check in STAAD Output. |

Dear saikiran gone,
Thank you for your response.
one more question...,
If a member having a node in between that splits the member into two (R1,R2)and i want to determine the overall effective length of the member.
is it possible to get output for the effective length of the member as a single unit.
if it so
explain me briefly
otherwise
give me the alternative.

Yes off course , try to assign LZ & LY for example :
Your member divides as 0.5+0.7m assign the design parameters LZ & LY as 1.2 m if no restraint (like Purlins ) present in both the directions and the result in output.
With best,
Saikiran.
