Found a post related to a problem in STAAD-Pro at http://www.sefindia.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18552 which is under Speak Out Box , and that looks wrong forum.

Post reads as:

Dear sefians

I am facing a problem in analyzing an ESM with shear walls model and not able to understand the error displayed in the output file. Can someone experienced in staad pro v8i advise me about removing the error and the mistake committed by me in modelling. File is attached with this mail.

Why the extension std is not allowed while posting?

Would be grateful for the response given.

We don't see any attached file.

Please rename file from foo.std to foo.txt as see if you can attach it.

Dear sir

1) I don't want columns along the periphery of shear walls and no intermediate beams in shear walls at floor levels and bottom most and top most level of shear walls. How do I model it? To avoid beams at intermediate levels I had taken a full surface from ground level to the top level of the structure.

2) I would like to provide lift well in front of shear walls. How do I provide rigid diaphragm in such a situation where there are openings in the slabs at every floor level?

3) After analysis error message says "elements are at the same joints". What does it mean and whats the error in modelling?

4) Even after renaming the file to foot.txt its not getting attached . Hence word input  file from editor is attached.

Kindly revert back.

V P Deshpande
