Hi all,
While modeling a steel beam in etabs/staad how will we give the condition of beam as laterlly supported/unsupported. |

By taking the effective length in different axis can solve this issue.Beams tends to bend in different axis differently for different site conditions.So applying effective lengths in x,y and z-axis would take control of your issue.
For different softwares the beam orientaion would be different and notation used would be different.So it is better to check the local axis of the respective beam and read the user manual for the respective software |
