Hi,

Is the TMT steel bar produced by using recycled iron as raw material have inferior qualities compared to one produced by refining of pig iron ore.

No TMT bar quality is not affected if recycled iron is used as raw material for TMT. It is just a misconception spread for misleading the general public. One factor that might amaze you is that steel industry is now considered as a green industry. This is because, they are a renewable resource. They can be recycled with minimum loss. Every TMT bar produced have ISI certification and thus meet the safety standards.

For producing ingots, the TMT bars are first purified at very high temperatures, where they are melted and impurities escapes as gaseous oxides. These ingots then become the raw materials for the TMT process.
