Dear Sir/ Ma'am,
I have a building of size 40 m x 35 m. The height of the building is 6.5 m for 10 m width and remaining 25 m width is at 9.0 m height. Whether the two part 10m x 40 m (of 6.5m height) and 25 m x 40 m( of 9.0 m height) has to be separated by separation joint.
As per Table 6 of IS 1893(part1)-2016, it has to be considered whereas as per Table 5 of IS 1893 (part1)-2002, it has not to be considered.
In addition to that, I have a doubt why code defines vertical irregularity only in terms of plan dimension of different height and is silent about relative height difference between two parts.
