Hello All,

I am from Solar industry, need your expert guidance in regards to IS 875 part 3-2015, Table 8 NOTE which states as below,

For Monpitch canopies the center of pressure should be taken to act at 0.3w from the windward edge

Q. What is 0.3w means, need some detail explanation or calculation procedure on how to apply it on to structure (or Purlin)

Regards,
Suresh

Dear Er Suresh,
0.3w means 30% of Width. For example, if your roof is over 10 m width, the center of pressure should be at 3 m from windward edge.

Hope that helps
Arunkumar

Thank You Arunkumar,

If it is going to act at 0.3w then the load will not be UDL, I think it will be UVL. If it is UVL in that case how we have to apply load individually on each purlin as this all purlin are at CC@1.2meter distance. Any supported calculation will help a lot.

Thank you,
Suresh Khe
