Dear SEFIans....I m new to STAAD.....the problem I m facing is that somehow self weight command is not working on my PC....I appleid it but then when i click on it the screen stays idle.....plz solve this for me....thanx a bunch in advance.

apply this command and check again

SELFWEIGHT Y -1 LIST ALL

Go to Staad Editor and apply Self Weight -1. No need to apply list all. It will not add the self weight of other member afterwards.
