Born in Winnipeg Canada  and received education at Rensselaer Pytechnic Institute and Harvard. In 1939 at Harvard , Peck began a long association with TERZAGHI. As a representative of Dr TERZAGHI during initial construction of Chicago Subways , Dr Peck was incharge of soil lab and program of field measurements .

Dr Peck has devoted his efforts primarily to applications of soil mechanics to design and construction , and to the evaluation and presentation of results of research in form suitable for ready use by practicing engineer s.

Dr Peck is one of the most respected soil engineer in the world.
As excellent Lecturer,  he has left his imprints on many students he had at University of Illinois.

His Text book jointly authored by TERZAGHI  'Soil Mechanics in Engg practice ' is widely used book by both students and practising engineers.

Recipient of Norman Medal and Wellington Prize of the ASCE , Dr Peck is also TERZAGHI Lecturer.

DANIELLE BERNOULLI (1700 - 1782)

Born in Groningen , Netherland (Dutch Republic) into a family of Mathematicians , Danielle was also a great Mathematician and physicists.
His father Johann Bernoulli was early developer of CALCULUS.
His Uncle  Jacob Bernoulli was early researcher of theory of PROBABILITY.
Father wanted him to study Business and to see him as a Merchant , but Danielle has passion for mathematics.
He studied Medicine on insistence of his father with condition to be his teacher of Mathematics at home tution. He got Degree in Medicine.
Did not give up his passion for Maths , and from 1724 to 1733 moved to St Petersburg ,Russian Empire,  as Professor of Mathematics.
He was close friend of Leonhard Euler.
After 1733 he returned back to University of Basel , Switzerland.

Being a Medicine student his interest in Blood pressure has made him to apply his mathematics to fluid Mechanics , hydrodynamics.

He is known for his aplicacion of Mathematics to Fluid Mechanics , Pioneer work on PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS, AND MOST FAMOUS BERNOULLI'S PRINCIPLE OF CONSERVATION OF ENERGY.

After death of his father , migrated to his ancestral home land , Ireland.
During 1834 - 1845 , employed by his uncle as estate manager , he also worked  as accountant.
In 1846 year of great famine , he was appointed in Arterial Drainage
Division  Irish Office of Public Works.
Manning worked as DRAFTSMAN for small time and due to his pragmatism and accounting background , posted as Assistant to Chief Engineer.

1874 - 1871 , he was Chief Engineer , retired thereafter.

His Contribution is MANNING EQUATION FOR UNIFORM FLOW THROUGH OPEN CHANNEL which he developed after doing hard work on seven existing equations and found best fit.

His equation with with a coefficient 'n' named as MANNING FRICTION COEFFICIENT , is widely used for open channel and pipe flow till date.

Graduated with Civil Engg degree from University of Zagreb in 1937 , Kani became Assistant to the Chair of Structural Theory , Strength of Materials & Material Testing in Zagreb University and later appointed as Lecturer there in 1942.
In 1943 , he moved to Technical University at Stuttgart and served as Assistant to Otto Graf (German CIvil Er and Material Scientist)as well as Richard Deininger.

Next 4 years worked as Contractor on Building works , but continued his aspiration for devising an iterative Method for frame analysis of Multistoried building structures.

In 1949 , published his famous work of KANI'S METHOD and in 1951 ,got his Doctorate from University of Stuttgart.
Further he worked  on Prestressed concrete strucures as Industrial Er , as also as Consulting Engineer.

In 1960, he offered post at University of Toronto and carried research on Shear failure of RC Beams.

1968 , he was drowned while excursion sailing on Lake Simcoe, Ontro , Canada.
Though he met with early death , the method devised by him namely Kani's Method for structural frame analysis kept him alive in engineering fraternity till today,  as will  in future times.
