Hi,
For ESR there are 2 design Methodology,
1. Membrane Stress Analysis,
2. Continuity Analysis,
Can anyone guide,
a. if we design with only Membrane stress analysis is correct
b. If we design with Only Continuity analysis is correct
c. If we design with Maximum Force considering from Membrane stress Analysis / Continuity Analysis is correct
Thanks & Regards.

CYLINDRICAL STRUCTURES , DOMES,, PARABOLOIDS
Structures like Domes, OH cylindrical water tanks ,, etc are predominantly Membrane structures, being designed for full membrane forces as per full load transfer through membrane effects.. However continuity needs to be additionally added considering monolithic effects for bending moments at junctions among various Ring beams with membrane members. These moments needs to be taken from continuity analysis.
You may refer Book on RC Design by JAIN & JAIKRISHNA VOLUME 2 ,, OH WATER TANK DESIGN, WHEREIN BOTH METHODS ARE INCORPORATED AS SAID ABOVE.

Dear Sefian.
PFA "IITK-GSDMA GUIDELINES for SEISMIC DESIGN OF LIQUID STORAGE TANKS" for your reference and it is very useful.
