Dear Mr Upadhaya, I have studied leterature of German school of tech. In that According to german school It is incorrect to think that the shear transfered both from compression strut and inclind diogonal tension form secondary beam to main beam It is infact 100% transfered by compressed strut ( and not by diognal tension by inclind rebar). So Our longitudnal tensile reinforcement equlibrate the resulting horizontal component of compression by compression strut. So perhaps that's why only tension rein come in to the picture for shear capacity of a section. I can not attached the xerox scane page because of the instruction from sefi. Hello Obviously i was referring to long. reinf. in the comp. zone as I wrote "Shear strength of conc. without shear reinforcement............."
If answer is No then "WHY" Will the comp. reinf. not have to shear off before the beam fails in shear.
hello Mr.Mukesh updhaya, Does ur question refer to the longitudinal reinf. in the compr. zone! If so, how can longitudinal reinf. increase(contribute to) the shear capaciy of the beam? - i suppose the answer to ur question would be 'No'. if i have misread the Q, do clarify! Thanks Raghu
