Dear Sirs/madamsLooking to the present scenario most of builders/developers/contractors of civil structures feel that" To keep and maintain quality, the cost will be raised and our profit/margin will be reduced".They even not getting 100% benefits what they already expended due to fear of loss of margin and no awareness and lack of knowledge . They are not ready to expense for quality. There should be some compulsation from government and engg.institutes and law and order. There are lot of research and knowledge of civil engineering but there is wide gap to the people who execute the work and decision making authority also.
There must be huge seminars-training classes to these people. All educated people from civil engineering field and corporate of the civil engg.field should come forward to take this challenge Respected Mr.C.M.DORDI Ambuja cement-mumbai is doing very nice work for this challenge.he had given nice power point presentation during seminar of 21st century concrete at IIT Delhi last year.
I hope that foundation work of duration and quality concrete should be done immediately to save wastage of billions of rupees .

Does quality Increase cost?
- I do not think that it is correct perception by anyone involved in construction practice or industry.
- Delivery of quality requires good level of supervision & control. Whatever cost is to be expended, shall be spent even if, no quality is maintained.
- Engineers have to do their jobs sincerely, if they are so appointed.
- They should even guide architects & others, responsible for quality controls.
- Major amount on buildings is spent on architectural finishes & decorations & not on structures. Structures if produced with quality, do not add considerably to costs.

Dear Er.,
I fully agree with you. You have described the quite real picture of field execution of most of the civil structures by huge profit maker business men in present days.
Best Wishes,
