I am pursuing my MTech in Structural Engg. and soon have to submit topic for thesis.

What would be an ideal topic or research area if

1.  It should include applications from Civil Engg, Computer Engg. and Electrical Engg.

2.  It should be innovative in terms of the material used.

Do a literature survey and find out yourself, as the criteria are invented by you!

@Dr NS: Could you suggest a few sources as the standard journal bases as lots of papers, and also recognize few pain areas for practicing Structural Engineers.

Dear Er Chinta,

Before starting, you should first select whether you are going to do research in steel/concrete/wood/Aluminium/plastics, etc. Then you should choose whether you want to do  expt. work or computer oriented research.

There are numerous journals and magazines. You could get a list from SEFI site itself http://www.sefindia.org/?q=node/18

Best wishes
NS

Is the "Analysis of shear and bond between reinforcement in RCC" a valid thesis subject?

What are the research areas around portable and temporary structures like those constructed during major events and sheds, warehouses etc. ?
