Dear Sri. Gurung,
If you can afford the loss of space due to the buttress wall, the same can be considered. For 9m retention, its base width may work out a bit large and may prove costlier. Even if you use STAAD for the analysis / design, you have to carryout the stability check manually.
Some of the modern & cheaper techniques for earth retention include use of Geotextiles, Gabbions, Soil Nailing etc. You can consult a geotechnical consultant for for assessing the suitable method for the type of soil at site and the height of retention.
You can refer the book " An introduction to modern techniques in geotechnical and foundation engineering" by Ninan P Kurian, for guidance.
