Dear All,

Similar to IS 456 and SP 16 for Concrete design, is there any IS code / Handbook for guiding Multistoried Building Frame 3D analysis?

Thankyou for your reply in advance.

Best Regards
R.Udayakumar.

Dear Er.  Uday Kumar,

We in US divide applicable code for a building project this way:
Governing Building Code: IBC ( International Building Code) 2014.   This tells you
about  Live Loads, Wind Loads, Earthquakes Loads, Fire Rating ( Fire Load), Drift ( Deflections) limits and things like that.  This code in turns referrer to current  applicable MATERIAL CODES  like  AISC (Steel) , ACI ( Concrete).

Neither   BUILDING  CODES (IBC)  or  MATERIAL CODES ( AISC, ACI) will tell you how you do a 3-D High  Rise  Building Analysis.  Codes will give you DRIFT LIMITS  and  P-DELTA effects, Progressive Collapse Requirements,  but will not tell you how we do our High Rise Building Analysis. In Concrete High Rise Building 3-D analysis we have to consider  CRACKED SECTION PROPERTIES for  BEAMS and COLUMN ELEMENTS ( ACI Code).

In 3-D Analysis of High Rise Bldgs., we engineers are on our own . Only help I got was from my LEAD STRUCTURAL ENGINEER  on the project.

Regards.
