Dear Sir
One of our site being located in Seismic Zone V and soil prone to Liquefaction up to a depth of 6 m,we have to provide pile foundation even for single storey  buildings.
Usually Single pile is not provided as foundation. In our case Pile safe load capacity is around 33 t for min Dia 450mm and length 9m.
Can we provide single pile as foundation under the columns with a load coming on it as 22 t and moment of 2 to 3 t/m in either direction.
Though in some countries building codes single pile is not allowed as foundation, but in BIS there is no such embargo.
I would request Sefians to share  their expertise / experiences on the subject.
Is there any other option of foundation in such circumstances?
Regards
Kamal K Arora

Dear friend,

There is no specific restriction to use Single pile for foundations but You have to assure accuracy of pile driving and eccentricity parameters.Several successful cases are there with Single pile for columns. For such small loading without any hesitation You can adopt Single pile.
