'Epicons Friends of Concrete' Announces Workshop 70

'Seismic Design of RCC High-rise Buildings'

at Mechanical Seminar Hall, VJTI, Matunga, Mumbai 400 019
Buildings all over India are reaching new heights. All the Mega cities like Mumbai, Kolkatta, Delhi, Chennai are talking about super tall structures with 100 storied and more. Whereas, 50 to 60 storied buildings are becoming more than common. Design of such buildings requires good understanding of Earthquake Engineering as well as Proper Design and Detailing of various Structural elements.

We need to revisit the codal provisions set in latest revisions of IS 1893 & IS 13920 on this background. It is very much essential to know the background of the revisions made/ proposed for safe and economical design of high-rise buildings.

  • WORKSHOP (DAY 1) Friday 12th May, 17 @ 9:30a.m. to 6:00p.m.

IS 1893 (Part 1): 2016 - Criteria for Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures, Part 1: General Provisions and Buildings

  • WORKSHOP (DAY 2) Saturday 13th May, 17 @ 9:30a.m. to 6:00p.m.

Provisions of Revised IS 13920: 2016 - Ductile Design and Detailing of Reinforced Concrete Structures, Subjected to Seismic Forces  Code of Practise
Special focus will be on design and detailing of shear walls, shear wall cores, flat slab-column system and infills (partitions). Hands-on training will be provided on ETABS/SAP 2000 Nonlinear. This workshop will discuss, debate and answer, some of the relevant questions related to the above mentioned topics.
