Dear Alok Sir,
As per the amendment of Oct 2014 the above mentioned clause reads as follows :
" For design of foundation, the seismic loads should be taken as 1.35 and 1.25 times the forces transmitted to
it by concrete and steel substructure respectively, so as to provide sufficient margin to cover the possible
higher forces transmitted by substructure arising out of its over strength. However, the dynamic
increment of earth pressure due to seismic need not be enhanced."
1. Whether the factor of 1.35/1.25 shall only be used in design of foundation and not for checking base pressure and pile capacity as applicable for the type of foundation irrespective of " R" value being adopted for the substructure . In my opinion it shall be used only in design and not for base pressure please advise?.
