I have following reservations on clause 7.2.d which requires P-delta analysis.
I don't think software are available to incorporate P-delta effects in dynamic analysis for seismic loads.
Even if software is made available, P-Delta analysis would require design time history of ground displacement or acceleration as input.
There are no guidelines in code to generate above referred input.
Even if both software and design time history is made available, a reliable p-delta analysis would require modelling of material nonlinearity.
As on date I don't think it is practically possible to incorporate material nonlinearity into analysis.
I suggest that requirement of P-delta analysis should be removed from code.

synthetic hystogram of earthquakes are available for input as forcing function in dynamic analysis. SAP 4 had provisioion for such analysis and I feel STAAD has also incorporated the algorythm.

Thanks and regards

Thanks Chattopadyayji for informing. Would like to know whether referred histograms are consistent with requirements of IS 1893 and available for all the zones i.e II to V.

With regards,
