Hello, sefians!
I am in my learning process for CSI SAFE. I am modelling this simple square isolated footing. Here, I am looking at the shear force generated in the strip. But, I do not understand why SAFE is showing such a shear force diagram. As far as I know, for isolated footing, it is supposed to be plain triangles, right? Could you please tell me why SAFE is showing such an irregular shear force diagram, or at least, what you think about it?

Also, on doing shear reinforcement design though SAFE, I see such asymmetrical and high values of shear reinforcement. In contrast, manual results show that the given depth should be sufficient without any additional reinforcement. What are your comments?

Dear Eng.Aakash

Please see attached safe screen capture,

in the manual calculations we are assuming the point load on the single point  only
( the sharp change of triangles in shear diagram)

but safe considers the column as stiffener ( distributes the point load on area of column)
and so the shape of shear diagram

regards

Thank you for the reply. It solved some doubts I had. Also, I discovered that the sharp triangles were not visible in SAFE because of the default high mesh size. After reducing the mesh size, the diagrams are much better.
