Hello,

I am very new to this forum, just joined recently.

I have a query regarding moment distribution for beams with variable stiffness. I am carrying out a line beam assessment on a continuous slab and beam deck with 4 spans. E is constant in this case, however, I changes at support regions due to the diaphragms at supports. Can anyone please explain how the moment distribution happens. Since the beam is much stiffer at support regions, how can I proportion the moment transferred to the beam section at diaphragm and beam section with no diaphragm.

Looking forward to your valueable advise.

Regards,
Arpan

My suggestion for you is to study 'Hardy Cross analysis of Moment distribution' from any book on "Structural Analysis".

All sheets available in Excell format  are useful. But not even one sheet found for Indian code. What is the use in applying to our design in India.
