Dear All,

When the wind pressure is applied to the building, the following are the criteria

1. Suction through the rear wall (leeward pressure)
2. Suction through side walls
3. Suction through the roof (uplift)

In the case of RCC structure, the roof is rcc slab to resist the uplift forces.

We need to consider the windward pressure and leeward pressure since those are active.

The pressure through side walls is equal and opposite - This can be canceled each other or do we need to consider this?

Also, the wind load depends on the open area around the building.

Under what criteria do we consider the windward direction? so that the other directions can be identified?

While applying wind load in Etabs how to consider these directions?
Please find the attached image for your reference.
Thanks & Regards,
Ramu.

Many cases of Wind load need to be taken in input file . You have to consider simultaneously internal pressures.

Wind x x (left to rt )
(Roof pe  + pi )AND ( Walls pe +pi )
(Roof pe -  pi ) AND (Walls pe - pi)

Wind xx (right to left )
All above cases with respective coefficient

Wind zz
All above 4 cases with respective coefficient
Wind ZZ(reverse direction )
All 4 cases with respective coeffs

Diagonal 45 deg Wind can also be included  .

Sir, can you please explain in brief.

Do we need to consider wind load in all directions of the building as well as the roof?

Yes Er Ramu ,  Wind load need to be considered in various directions  based on cases mentioned in previous post.  Whenever Wind blows , it affect roof , all enclosing walls simultaneously  based on Wind direction.
