SIR MOKSHAGUNDAM VISHVESHVARAIYA (1860 -1962)
भारत रत्न (1955)
Born on 15 th September in Muddenahalli Kingdom of Mysore( now in Karnataka) in British era India , the Centenarian was the First Indian Civil Engineer and a great Statesman who was highly respected by British Raj as well all Indians . Graduated from Engineering College from Pune , he was associated with Krishna Raja Sagara Dam and many other projects at that times , serving as Chief Engineer.
He was 19 th Diwan of State of Mysore during 1912 to 1919.
Sir Vishveshvarya was knighted by British King George V as Knight of British India for his services for public good.
Conferred with Highest Honour of Independent India as BHARAT RATANA in 1955.
Lived for more than 100 years .
15th September , his Birthday , is celebrated as ENGINEERS DAY .
