Hi All,

I'm seeking some guidance with the subject.

I am a Technical Engineer in a company dealing with Sacrificial Formwork(Stremaform),which is a metal mesh designed to use in construction joins.

When the engineers specify a hydrophilic(Waterstop) we provide a metal strip in the center of Stremaform. We have a guideline regarding the size of the plate. I was searching for any code provisions or guideline regarding  restriction on the area of unbonded surface in a Construction joint.

If anyone has knowledge in this area or could direct me to relevant resources or standards, it would be immensely helpful. Sharing your expertise or pointing me to where I can find such information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Santhosh.

HI santhu256
Greetings

As per ACI318-19 22.9—Shear friction

at construction joint the  ultimate shear forces at the our section
should be transfer by shear friction

Phi Vn  > Vu ---(22.9.3.1)

the Vn should be calculated

Vn =  coefficient Avf  fy  ----(22.9.4.2)

and should not be more than

Vn =  0.2  *  fc * Ac   ----(22.9.4.2)

as our case , we have the unbonded concrete area & steel bars which are not embedded in concrete

so calculate the Vn with reduced concrete section area and Vn with reduced steel area

and minimum of Vn should be more than the ultimate shear force at the construction Joint .

I hope this will help you.

best regards
