May be useful for design consultants. It works on different concept. Experts of all the fields of construction are their to supplement each other while delivering best structures.

KEN DAY'S Innovative Concrete Technologist Site:-
Introduction in his own words:-
I have described myself as “an evangelistic concrete technologist” suggesting that concrete technology is my religion and I preach it to anyone who will listen to me. However at age 82 I have had to cut back significantly on my activities.
I have just completed – with two co-authors – a 4th and final edition of my book (see below for more detail) but it will be several months before the new edition emerges in print. It is a pleasure to advise that the 3rd edition was translated into Chinese at their request.
The new edition makes the challenging claim that all official guidance on concrete quality, from the most respected authorities, is out of date and largely irrelevant. This is because they all deal with the detection of a problem by analysing a number of 28day strength results and assess quality in terms of water/cement ratio, whereas almost no concrete is, or should be, produced without supplementary cementitious and/or pozzolanic materials and problems should, and can, be detected and corrected at an early age.
The above developments do not invalidate the QC techniques presented in my 3rd edition and they are again presented with relatively little change. Mix design on the other hand has become “a whole new ball game” through the development of much more powerful admixtures, cement replacement materials, and the shortage in many parts of the world of natural sand of the conventionally desired grading.
I have selected my two co-authors with great care. One of them, Dr. James Aldred, is a Technical Director of AECOM, the world’s largest Consulting Engineers. Surely he will be listened to in matters concerning the specification and control of concrete by those who have continued to regard my own views as too radical.
The other co-author, Barry Hudson, is well-known from his days at his Aggregate Research Institute in USA and the website of that organisation. He is now located in Europe where he is responsible for the operation of over 100 mix plants producing millions of cubic metres of concrete a year.

|
|
Dear Sir,
Can any one suggest a book on Slip form technology.
Any IS code or approved methodology and practice available for carrying out slip form concrete.
Request SEFI ans to share your views on slip form construction.
1.Mainly i would like to know what should be the duration of concreting 1m height a shaft of an Over head tank (total height -15m) and whats the minimum and acceptable time duration required to concrete 15m height.
2. As we need to further raise the conical wall over the shaft, what should be the recommended time gap between concreting of last lift of shaft by slip form and conical wall concreting commencement.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Regards,
Ramkumar
