This is something even I wanted to know for a long time now.
It would be great if Sefians throw some light on this topic.

Hi Er Sendhil, Er Sandeep, and Er Shariff

As informed by Er Suraj Singh, if you become a member of Instn. of Engrs(India), you can get Chartered Engineer Certificate from them- He has already given the Min. qualifications(Engg. Degree) and Exp. (5 years) required to become an Associate Member(AMIE). A Chartered Engineer can sign stability certificate.

Reg. Approved Valuer, you have to register with the Income Tax Dept. But  it may require several years of experience. I suggest you to first become a member of Institution of Valuers first-attend their meetings, get contacts and then approach IT Dept.

Advantages of becoming Members of Professional Bodies:
1. You can attend their meetings to get knowledge
2. You will receive Their magazines, Journals
3. You will get contacts, friendship, and fellowship
4. You can participate in their committees and organize meetings, conf./seminars- thus developing leadership skills, more contacts and Public speaking.

I urge younger Engineers to become members of Inst. of Engineers(India), ICI, and ACCE(India)

Best wishes
Subramanian

Dear Sendhil
I must congratulate you on completing your ME.You should become a member of Institution of Engineers, and then also send in a seperate application for becoming a Chartered Engineer; It is a simple procedure and should not pose much problems.
And in India, we are free to sign a stability certificate, once we become a qualified Civil/structural engineer; of course one needs to work under some experienced engineers to learn the right design and detailing practices and also the necessary checks and balances, ( and for that one also needs to stduy the Codes and relevant technical literature etc) So I suggest you should do the same before you actually start signing the certificates.

Best regards and best wishes for a brilliant career.

You can also become a member in the INSTITUTE OF VALUERS which is an authorised institution. If you register you can apply for the banks and other financial institutions as a valuer as they ask for the valuers membership.
Also you can register with the PUBLIC WORKS Department for issuing stability certificate? But to get an approval from PWD is too tedious.
