Hi All,

I have as doubt in fees,

Structural consultancy fees for residential apartment is Rs.2/SFT

The above fees is for each and every floor or if the building has typical floors, then will it be accounted for only one floor?

Regards
JK

Though not an entrepreneur, I must say that fee for structural consultancy must
be respectable. It is not a MUNIM's job of writing Bahi- Khattas. It is an expertise
requiring skills of Arts, mathematics and physics to combine. It is not a straightaway
drafting work of producing plans and elevations or window details, but a drafting
work to be initiated only after rigorous analysis, reference of many codal provisio
extensive study behind the design work.

SE must charge additionally for the responsibility undertaken for structural safety.

regards

FEE Debate For Decision Making by SEFI
Really, SEs talk a lot & complain too much but, there has been no reasonable response since 29 Mar 2010. Can't we debate openly? Can't we decide?

Of course, SEs are short of time.

Someone else, would decide for SEs!!!

SEs should develop professional forces in addition to structural forces.

Regards

Hi all!
Jabir, rates are for sft per level. It is not like rates for plot of lands for real estate business.
No consultory could afford such a low rate if they were for the whole building.

Regards,

[quote="suraj"]FEE Debate For Decision Making by SEFI
     Dear Sefians,
Based on interaction and inputs from ACCE(I), ACE and CDC A " Manual on Guidelines for Practicing Engineers in India" was published by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, in 1990.
This manual covered fee structure, methods of calculating fees, Appointment Letters, Client- Consultant Relations and other issues.
A very good document to be made available on this site as a guide line. The number can always be modified based the year under consideration and published guideline.
It is professionals need to insists fees commensurates to service to be rendered.
Even then the deliberations/arguments were :
1--- For starter should fees be lowered to support entry.
2--- How can the fees be same for large and small organisations.
3--- Should the fees payable on cost of works and not on specialty.
4--- Should fee structure remains the same for office in Metro and non metro cities.
     And so on.
I think those who are in profession need to have a courage to seek fees, which they think they deserve. Industry will always desire to have as less fees as possible.
     Regards Umesh Rao

Dear Ankur,
SEFI is not in the process of proposing any fee structure, nor will that be binding on community. Though we wish that there could be some "Minimum Standards" below which one should not charge, also the client should be educated/ made aware of the fact that going for too cheap rates would have impact on quality.
There should be healthy competition without compromise on quality and sustainability of the engineering process.
Best wishes
Sanjeev
