Respected seniors and friends,
Interpretation of clause 12.1.5 and 12.1.6 of SP 34-1987 (page 189, Ductility requirement of E. Q. resisting structure) states that, shear capacity of flexural member shall be provided only by vertical stirrups. Means in case of reversal of stresses in earthquake, it is advisable not to calculate shear capacity of concrete .
Is it conclusion of this clause? Then why this clause is not provided in IS- 13920.
