hello memebers

i have a query regarding constrcution of a inclined
brick wall.

Iam getting my house constructed in form of a
diverging cone i.e at ground level it got a radius
of 7ft 3 inches and at slab level it got a radius of
8ft 9 inches.
so it is in form of truncated diverging cone. The
columns are already cast in inclined at 80 degrees
with horizantal.

now i want to start the brick work.. what is the
most suitable and cost effective method in which i
shall go for construction,.

I will be very thankfull to u if any one of them can
help me out

with regards

sudheer

Dear Mr. Surya,

I would suggest that you go in for a thin non load bearing ferro cement slab
for the above purpose. They can be as thin as 4 to 6 cm and  can be
supported on tie beams at the sill level as well at the lintel level,
leaving openings for the windows and doors.

To my knowledge, this wouldl be the most cost effective way in which the
above problem can be solved. It will have sufficient strength and also be
light in weight and will not create any structural problems.

Since you say that the columns have already been cast, it would be better to
have these slab panels fixed to the columns using channels or angles.
Another advantage would be the availability of additional space within the
room as the wall width would be only 6 cm instead of the 23 cm for a brick
wall. For the projections of columns inside the room, you may decorate them
or paint them with a different colour from the wall and make it look
prominent, which would add to the beauty of the interior.

Let us also wait for valuable suggestions from the esteemed members of SEFI.

Best regards,
G. Ajith Kumar
