If hanging load of a crane say 10 tons hits any object wihile swinging the boom. What will be impact of moving load in a fixed structure.

Calculate the Kinetic energy of the load i.e. 1/2*mass*square of velocity.

This is the energy input - into the structure. This is converted into work done i.e. force times distance - which will give you the force.

Alternatively, you can take impulse as force * impact time which is equal to momentum i.e. mass times the velocity.

the velocity can be calculated as distance travelled in particular time.

or if it is hanging load = you can get velocity = radius*angular velocity.

Use this force as impact load on the structure and then it is normal static analysis.

Hope this helps.
